Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at the Columbus Application Support Center?
USCIS collects your biometrics: fingerprints, a photograph, and a digital signature. These are used for background checks and to produce documents like green cards and EADs. Appointments typically take 15-30 minutes.
What should I bring to my biometrics appointment?
Bring your Form I-797C appointment notice and a valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, green card, or EAD). Without both, you may be turned away.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
Officially, ASCs require a scheduled appointment. Some locations accept early walk-ins with a valid notice at their discretion, but this is never guaranteed: attend on your scheduled date if possible.
What if I miss my biometrics appointment?
Follow the rescheduling instructions on your notice or call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 as soon as possible. Missing the appointment without rescheduling can delay or jeopardize your application.
